Warranty & grading standard

What each grade means, what the warranty covers, and how we test before a machine leaves the bench.

1. Warranty term

All systems carry a 12-month SHOP24 warranty as standard, extendable to 24 or 36 months at the time of purchase. The warranty covers all functional components against failure under normal use, including mainboard, display panel, storage, memory and cooling assembly.

2. What is not covered

  • Cosmetic wear consistent with the purchased grade.
  • Battery capacity below the stated residual value due to normal cycling.
  • Damage from liquid, impact, over-voltage or unauthorised disassembly.
  • Software, licences and customer-installed operating system images.

3. Cosmetic grading scale

  • Grade A: indistinguishable from new at 50 cm; no marks; battery health 90 % or above.
  • Grade A−: faint traces of use visible only on close inspection; battery health 85 % or above.
  • Grade B+: minor scuffs on lid or palm rest; no dents or cracks; battery health 80 % or above.
  • Grade B: clearly visible cosmetic wear, possibly small dents; chassis structurally sound and fully functional.

Functional condition is identical across all grades. Photographs of the exact unit are supplied on request before purchase for single-unit orders.

4. The 41-point test protocol

Every machine passes a documented protocol covering CPU and GPU stress testing, memory integrity (Memtest86 full pass), SMART storage evaluation, display dead-pixel and uniformity inspection, keyboard matrix, trackpad, all ports, wireless radios, camera, microphone, speakers, thermal profile under sustained load, battery capacity measurement and a 48-hour burn-in. The report is archived against the serial number.

5. Service and replacement

Warranty claims are handled at our Weil am Rhein workshop. Standard turnaround is 5 business days from receipt. Advance replacement and pooled spare-parts contracts are available for fleets of 25 units or more.

6. Data and licences

Systems are supplied with genuine, transferable Windows licences where stated in the offer, or without an operating system on request. Prior to sale, all storage media are erased in accordance with NIST SP 800-88; an erasure certificate accompanies each unit.
